That Summer Feeling

What a beautiful summer day it is today. This is my idea of a perfect day. Not a cloud in the sky, the temperature is 86 degrees but the humidity is only 23 percent and there is a nice breeze. This is what I think of when I think summer, not the horrible humidity we usually have. The kind that just takes your breath away the minute you walk out of the door.

My card today is one I made when I was in DesMoines with my stamp group. Terri had taught us how to use Stampscapes last year and when we got home I even ordered some and there they sat all year long. I have way too many toys and forget about using them (shh don't tell Bill I even thought that!) Anyway I played with the Stampscapes again this year and made this card. It is where I would like to be all winter long! I used the Melon Melody Kaleidacolor stamp pad and brayered the ink on glossy paper and then stamped the images on that. I really do like how it came out.

I hope that your Sunday is as beautiful as it is here in Nebraska!

Til we meet again,
Sheri

Michelle and Brian are home but I have one last post about the kids stay with us. The night before Mom and Dad came home, the boys got super quiet and when I went to check they were very busy coloring and making pictures for the homecoming. Aaron finished his and really wanted to show it to the camera. How could I resist that sweet face? Michelle and Brian had a wonderful time and my house is once again very quiet but it feels so empty. We had a great week. Hey boys did you tell your parents about the turkeys?

Water fights

Today started with our upside down day (Thanks Joyce!) and we had pizza for breakfast. Then we went to the post office to mail a couple of packages and finally to the Goodwill to clear out my garage. By the time we got home Bill was up and the kids played and started bickering and bickering and Bill lost it. He really yelled and pounded his fist on the kitchen table. After he got their attention, they were perfect for hours! We had sandwiches for lunch and then later the boys and Lucy and I went out in the yard for a water fight. Our thermometer read 105 degrees. We had a ball getting each other wet and being the one in charge of the hose. Then we started the round sprinkler and ran through that for awhile. Justin said he didn't know of any other grandma who had water fights with the kids. We then had ice cream and popsicles. We came in the house and took showers and within about 10 minutes after we were finished it was pouring and windy and thundering outside. It rained for probably a half hour and then it was done but it did cool off. It is now only 86 degrees. For dinner we had sausage, cereal and waffles. Now the kids are playing quietly and I am writing this. These kids are kids and they have had their squabbles but darn, they are really good boys. We have enjoyed them but we are tired as well. Tomorrow is the last day. We don't know what we will do yet but I am sure we will have fun doing something. Oh! Aaron is starting to ask to go home. This is a long time for a little guy. Justin would stay longer he says. Bet his story changes when he sees Mom and Dad.

The kids

I thought I would post a picture of Makala (our oldest grandchild and a twin) who stopped over today to see Justin and Aaron. Justin is 8 and Aaron is 4. They were so excited to see her. She said she would try to come back on Wednesday. We didn't do much today. Worked in the yard for a short time, ate popsicles and tried to stay cool. It is over a hundred according to our thermometer. We ate at the Golden Corral tonight and I told the boys about camping in Missouri and how we used to go to the Golden Corral every night to cool off. Tomorrow is upside down day. Stay tuned! I bet you can't wait to see what that is!

For Michelle and Brian

Today I won't post a card, but am giving Michelle and Brian an update so if you aren't Michelle or Brian, you may stop reading now and wait for something more interesting. We made it to Mahoney yesterday. We took a picnic lunch and then went swimming. The boys had a ball! So did I - honest! We HAVE to take them back before school starts. Aaron lost his swim suit in the wave pool. He kept trying to pull them up but the waves were against him. That was their favorite part - they giggled and giggled when the waves hit. Aaron also liked the slide alot and shooting water out of the guns. Justin loved the diving board. After we were finished there, we went to the tower and Aaron and I climbed to the very top. Justin made it 2/3 of the way. Bill and I realized that we should have used sunscreen on us as well as the kids. They are just fine but we are crispy critters.

Saturday night we went to the store to stock up on junk food. We had KoolAid, Capri Sun, donuts, ice cream, popsicles, fudgesicles, grapes (see I am health conscious) chips, etc in the cart. When we got to the checkout, Aaron said "Mom doesn't want me to have much sugar". I thought the lady behind us was going to wet her pants!

This morning the boys got up and started to bicker. Finally Bill called Aaron into the kitchen and asked what the problem was. Aaron told him exactly what had happened while Justin was in the other room. After his lengthly explaination, Bill asked him if Justin would say the same thing because he was going to ask him too. Aaron thought for a minute and then said "I don't know, I will go and ask him!" We cracked up!

Don't know what we will do today. They said to tell you they loved you!

Saturday happenings and Lucy

Happy Sunday! First I must say that I am really writing this for Michelle and Brian who are in Mexico celebrating their annniversary. This is how I will keep them up to date on what the boys are doing in their absence. Hopefully they will have a computer available to them and they can see this. It is cloudy and we got 3/4 inch of rain overnight. Finally! I have to make this short today as we have our grandsons here for the week. My oh my they are busy little people but we are having fun. Yesterday we took everything out of Grandpa's garage and cleaned it. We were sure dirty when we were finished. We all took showers and then went to Surfside to eat. Their prices are sure not what they used to be! But it was fun to sit outside and watch the boats. We even got mooned by some goofball. I pointed in the opposite direction and told the boys to look and they missed the whole experience. We then went to the store and stocked up on goodies for the week. When we got home, the Aaron had a dish of ice cream and I did laundry and then the boys went to bed to watch a movie. (Flight of the Navigator). This morning we were all up bright and early and we had powdered sugar donuts for breakfast. The boys surprised Grandpa with his birthday and Father's Day gift which he really liked. Now they are waiting for something to do. The sky is getting lighter so we may go to Mahoney to swim. Gonna be a hot one today with tomorrow's heat index at 105!

Here is another page of Lucy's scrapbook. All of my toys are put away for the week. I am already going into withdrawal! This is what happens when you send a white dog outside to play in the grass right after it has been mowed.

That's it for today. Hopefully I can get back here later today or tomorrow to update you on the kids activites.

Good Morning! Summer has certainly arrived in Nebraska. We have had temperatures in the high 90's for the last 2 days. Last night we even had thunder and lightening and rain! The boys come tonight for a week. Well until next Thursday anyway - close enough to a week to call it a week. I hope the weather is nice but not miserable. I don't know if I will even see the computer for the next few days. I think I am too old for this!!

Ok now on to the card of the day. The card I made for today was given to a friend in Iowa. The dresses were stamped on the paper and then stamped and colored with my Copics and then it was stamped again on PTI's white cardstock. After coloring them I went over them with my Versamark pen and sprinkled clear embossing powder on it and heat set. That allows you to go over it again and just wipe the card clean. So cool! So without further ado...

Have a great day - I guess I will see you when I see you!

Good morning to you! It rained overnight - not a lot but just enough to make everything wet. It is still very cloudy but supposed to get very warm today when it clears up. Our two youngest grandsons are coming for almost a week. They live nearby but Mom and Dad are going on a vacation alone. We are looking forward to having them but I know I won't be here during that time. They are busy little guys. I am sure I will be exhausted by the time they leave. I am already planning on having them put me to bed instead of me putting them to bed.

Today's card is one I made for a friend. I can't remember whose paper that is but the stamp set is from Stampin' Up and is called Sage Advise. It is one of my favorite sets and I don't use it nearly enough. I used the oval Nestabilities or cut and emboss my saying.

Thanks for looking! Enjoy your day

Happy Anniversary

I made this card a couple of weeks ago but am just now getting it posted. I use this card for anniversaries and also for retirement. I just love this couple.

Today was a lazy day. Spent the morning with my Mom who is 92. We had brunch with her and then came home and lazed around on the deck for a couple of hours. Then we took our little Lucy to the dog park and now am just getting home.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a great start to the new week.

My it has been a busy week. Des Moines was so much fun and we got home around 6:30 Tuesday night. Wednesday was a busy doctor day doing all that annual stuff and Thursday I was at the dentist and then went to lunch with a friend. Today I hope to catch up a bit around here. At least I can post a card I made. It is for a swap in one of my groups. I was pleased at how it turned out. I colored with Copics and the stamp set is from Stampendous and is an Archivers exclusive. The stickers are also from Stampendous.

Lucy and Ricky

Here I am at 1:20 in the morning. Lucy and I were awakened by a noise outside so we went to investigate. Of course this means looking out the windows with the doors all locked and the alarm on! Anyway there was a huge raccoon eating away at the bird seed. After Lucy scared him off by her mean growl and bark, we thought we would wait for Bill to come home. I am almost all packed for my trip this weekend. At least my stamping stuff is. I am really looking forward to this mini trip. Today I am showing you a scrapbook page I made of Lucy. The pictures were taken on Easter Sunday. My mother who is 92 was here and absolutely adores Lucy and that is her you see holding her. I used my Just Rite stamper for the "pampered princess". The paper is from my stash. Nothing too exciting but I scanned several of the pages so thought I would share them. Have a great Friday!

Cookies and Banana Bread

What a weekend and Monday! I made 2 huge batches of oatmeal cookies, some lemon cookies on Sunday and 9 loaves of banana bread tonight. Ok, some of the oatmeal cookies are going to Iowa with me on Sunday. There are about 12 of us stampers who gather annually and have a couple of wonderful days. We stamp, we eat, we gossip, we eat, we exchange ideas, we eat, we share what we have learned in the last year and we eat. I will take cookies and some banana bread. The rest of the cookies are made for my two youngest grandsons who will be staying with us for a week in June while Mom and Dad go to Mexico to relax and celebrate their 10th anniversary. I figured while I was baking I should just get it all done with at once. I never bake anything anymore so my husband, Bill was extremely surprised and very happy! I had a bunch of bananas in the freezer and now they are finally gone.

Tomorrow is my last day of work for 8 whole weeks. Ahhh the joys of summer vacation. I do believe that the anticipation is better than the real thing. It goes so fast once it starts.

Ok, on to the card for today. I made this one quite some time ago and before I fell in love with Copics but I still like the card. The stamps are all from Eat Cake Graphics as is the chunky glitter. They are colored with SU markers. Pretty basic but a fun summer card.
