Window Peeping

Good morning, friends. I spent last night working on this card. I really do like how it came out. You have seen this image before but not like this. I saw a tutorial a while back on this and wanted to try it. So easy! I had been cutting long skinny strips to create a window before! Notice the wood grain on the window ledge. I used the woodgrain stamp from PTI to make that. Cool huh?

No snow here still. Mild temperatures too - in fact Monday will be above 50 degrees.

I finished Left to Tell and it was one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. Now I have just started David Baldacci's One Summer. Supposed to be good. I will let you know.

Until next time, Happy trails to you...

Stickers

I have a friend, Georgia, who makes cards with stickers all of the time and she makes them a work of art. Soooo I decided that I would make a sticker card. Now this is nothing like what she does, but I thought it was acceptable. All I did was add the background with Versamark and some Stickles to the flower. Easy peasy.

Still no snow here but boy this week as sure been cold. Now most winters, by January we have had temperatures of zero and way below but this year they haven't gotten that cold. We have had zero and below wind chills but not actual below zero. With such nice weather we experienced, anything below 30 is feeling really cold to us.

I am reading an excellent book that I have to tell you about. It is Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza. The cover says "Discovering God in the Rwandan Holocaust". I can hardly put it down. I keep wondering if this type of thing could ever happen in our country and I believe the answer is yes, of course it could.

Until next time... Happy trails to you

Penguins

It is supposed to be winter and very cold like these penguins but so far it has been a very mild winter here in Nebraska. We have only had one snow and it was just a little. Yesterday and today we have had the sprinklers going to try to get some moisture into the ground and into our trees and bushes. It is beginning to get a bit colder now. Today it is just 44 degrees but on Thursday it was 66 degrees IN January IN Nebraska. My little Lucy and I walked when I got home from work until it get really dark. It was just too nice to waste the time inside. Later this week our weathermen are saying it will be in the 20's for highs. That is more like it and even now it should be zero or minus zero. I am not complaining. The 20's are going to be darn cold for us.

My card today was colored with Copics. Did you know they are coming out with 12 new colors in February? I have mine on order, do you? The snowflake is from K and Co. and the paper is from My Mind's Eye and called 12 Days of Christmas. I don't think you can see the glitter on the white part of the hat and the pom pom. Oh and I used cheesecloth for the first time. Next time I will let it flop around more. I think I used too much glue on it.

I am reading a great book called Night Road by Kristin Hannah. You can read about it on Amazon and decide if it is one you would like.

Until next time, Happy Trails to you....

Yesterday's a Memory and Happy New Year

Last summer when we were in Des Moines, the stamp store had a class for this card. We were not going to be there for the class but we did buy the "stuff" to make our own. They used wrapping paper for the background sheet and then the card itself is cream cardstock. The light blue cardstock is Bazzill. The butterfly is a sticker from K & Co. and the verse is a set of stamps from Wordsworth. We made several cards similar to this and I thought they all came out very nice. I love the colors!

Happy New Year to you. I hope everyone was safe and had a wonderful evening. We stayed home and were in bed long before the clock struck midnight. We were awakened by the fireworks at midnight though. Sure were a lot of them! Do anyone of you do anything special for New Years Day? We don't. Other than eat some left over snacks and try to clean out the fridge from the holidays. We do have a shrimp ring every year so we have that to look forward to either today or tomorrow. Nebraska plays their bowl game tomorrow so we will have treats for two days instead of just today.

Until next time, Happy trails to you.....
