Let's Go Sledding!

Did you all survive Christmas?  We had a very nice holiday but I am always glad to get back to normal.  I have a new Big Shot to play with though!  Now to take everything down and put it away until next year.  We have had some snow which I could certainly do without!  We had a blizzard come through and it brought lots of heavy wet snow.  I am going to learn to use the tractor before next time!  But on with my card...

I got an amazing card from my friend Eulanda for my birthday and she colors so well that it looks professional and air brushed.  I wish you could all see her work up close and personal.  Anyway I tried to use the same colors with a different image and tried to "copy" her coloring.  I must admit I am impressed with my little sledder.  It did take a long time but it was so worth it.  The image is a Whimsy image, isn't it cute?  The trees are Sizzix pine trees that I have a few of.  The paper is paper from last years stash and I cut the snowflakes with a Martha Stewart punch.  The snow flourish in the upper corner is a die cut from Memory Box.  I stickled the trees and snowflakes and added a little to the snow.  Then the last step was to take Glimmer Mist and spray the whole card so it shimmers.  I hope you like this one!

Any plans for New Years?  We plan to stay in and feast on Shrimp cocktail and other goodies.  Maybe we will dig out a deck of cards or a game.  Whatever you all do, stay safe!  I wish you all the best in 2013.  Does that even sound possible?  We were just worrying about Y2K, weren't we?

Until next time, happy trails to you....

Merry Christmas From Us

I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.  Stay safe if you are traveling.  On this most holy night in the Christian faith, may you rejoice in the fact that our Savior is born.  God Bless you all and your families.

I wanted to also take this time to thank all of my followers and those that leave comments.  It means so much to me to hear from you.  Each of you are important to  me.  Thanks!  I look forward to sharing more next year.

Christmas with the Puppies

I thought I would share a card I made for Lucy's groomers.  Unfortunately we had a snow storm with lots of wind so had to take the picture inside so it is not a great picture but you can get the idea.  We took huge boxes of treats for them to give to the puppies that go for either play days or boarding and then made the workers some treats as well.  As for Lucy's groomer, she got a special pampering gift.  She spends her days and most of her nights and weekends with the dogs so we thought it would be nice to treat her to something special.  Anyway I loved this puppy sitting on her pillow, surrounded by gifts.  The second picture of is our puppy, Lucy after she was groomed wearing her new Christmas sweater.  Lucy told me that she wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Do you have snow where you are?  I could sure do without it but I guess winter is here for a few  months.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

SNOWGLOBE SNOWMAN

I am putting this card on my blog today because as I look outside it is snowing.  So far not sticking but haven't heard if it is supposed to or not.  I used all PTI paper and a Memory Box die for the snowglobe and star.  The snowman is from a long retired SU set.  And I colored him with my Copics. I made several of these and the later ones got some stickles around the snow globe as well.  Can't have too much glitter!

I think we as a nation have heavy hearts this weekend in view of the tragedy in Connecticut.  I pray for comfort for the town, peace for the families and rest for the souls who will be spending Christmas in Heaven this year.   I also pray for the safety of my own grandchildren as they grow up and our grown grandchildren as they go to work and school daily.  I would love to go back to the 50's where things were safe and the most violent thing we saw on tv was Gunsmoke and Roy Rogers.  Maybe our leaders should think of how we could go backwards instead of rushing ahead.  Some things weren't so bad in the old days.

Until next time.... Happy trails to you.

Little Angels

Aren't these little ladies adorable?  It is a Lili of the Valley stamp and I could not wait to color it up.  I colored with my Copics and used a Spellbinder Nestability to cut it out.  I embossed my pink paper and had the strip left over from another project.  The rhinestones were from my stash.

So are you all ready for Christmas?  I need to wrap but I think I am finished shopping.  I made progress this week.

I have a book recommendation for you today.  A Winter Dream by Richard Paul Evans.  It is excellent!  Not necessarily a Christmas story but a definite must read.

Until next time, happy trails to you....

Merry Christmas Bears

I took an non traditional image and used non traditional colors and came up with this Christmas card.  I did use the colors in the Christmas paper, however.  The image is from LOTV and of course I colored it up with my Copics.  The flowers were in my stash.  I like the way it came out even if it is not a traditional card.

We have had a wonderful fall that still continues.  Most of our days have been very nice.  We had one day last week where it was very cold and we even had snow that stuck on the grassy spots for a little while.  That was very soon a memory.

I think I have finished my Christmas shopping.  Now to wrap everything.  Not my favorite thing to do, however so I have put it off.  I did a ton of online shopping for the first time this year.  I always ordered a couple of things on line but this year I did the majority of my shopping online.  That is certainly the way to go.  I loved it and it is so fun when the UPS  man shows up!

Hope your holiday plans are in full swing and you are ready to run with them!

Until next time, Happy trails to you....

One Month Left

before Christmas Eve.  No pressure at all!  I thought being retired would put me ahead of the game.  Not so!  Where does the time go and what am I doing with all of the extra I was supposed to have?  I still have a few gifts to buy, I have to wrap everything, I found I needed some more cards so they are in the works, the tree has got to go up yet and any decorating inside needs to be done.  On the finished side is the outside is done - not much, just a lighted wreath and a large vase and birdbath decorated.  Most of my shopping is done - I love cyber shopping!  I have lots of stuff baked and frozen.  So I am making progress.

My card today is a case of Kitty Kraft.  I used the window die and some paper I put through the crimper for the curtain.  I then punched the bottom with a Martha Stewart punch.  I also used a MS punch to punch out the ferns and then some gemstones I turned into holly berries.  I put it all on some blue sparkly paper I have had for years.  It was very easy except I got very sticky putting the fern branches down.  Maybe the Xyron next time.

Until next time, happy trails to you

Happy Thanksgiving

I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving already.  This year just flew by.  I am in the midst of Christmas baking.  I don't do much but want to make some things to give away.  My kitchen looks like Sandy the Hurricane was here!  Soon the goodies will be filling my freezer.  That will feel so good!  Things are slowly getting back to normal around here after the hospital stay for my husband so like I said last week, we have alot to be thankful for.

My Thanksgiving card was made with some pretty paper I have had in my stash.  I used the leaf from  a Close to My Heart set and tapped Memento Inks on it for color.  Then I cut it out and cut another one from dark brown cardstock for the background of the leaf.  I popped the leaf up with a pop dot and added my sentiment.  Easy peasy!

I wish all of my American friends a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.  Enjoy time with family and friends and if you are a Black Friday shopper, best of luck!  I will sleep in and grab the left overs!

Until next time, happy trails to you....

Give Thanks

Thought I had forgotten this blog didn't you?  Well the title is very appropriate for the month and especially for my  family right now.   While I was missing, Eulanda changed my blog!  Thanks so much!

Meanwhile the leaves have been swirling all around us.  I spent part of yesterday trying to get them picked up.  Seems like the more I pick up the more than fall.  But at least I am not picking up the same ones twice!  The weather has been so nice but is due to change quickly.  Saturday in the 70's and Sunday in the 30's.  I feel so sorry for everyone affected by Hurricane Sandy and now the snow and winds.

Ok,  my card was so simple!  Just some pretty Bazzill paper, and a K and Co. sticker backed on a piece of distressed scrap paper.  Along with a little bling from Recollections and there you have it!

Until next time, Happy trails to you....

Tombstones and Ghosts

Here are a couple more Halloween cards I put together for my grandson's. I love the paper from Hobby Lobby in the one with the basket.  I believe I made some envelopes out of that paper as well.  The bats are punches from Martha Stewart punched on black shiny cardstock.  The border punch is also a Martha punch.  On the top card I used a Memory Box box die.  It went through the Cuttlebug so easy and cut so nice.  The ghosts are from a PTI set and I cut them out.

Are you ready for Halloween?  We are and we have the chilly weather to show for it.  Today at least is sunny and bright but not warm.  How long until the nice spring days come around again?

Happy Halloween to you all!  Until we meet again, Happy trails to you......

The Hills are Alive.....

Ok, so this is not what you expected, right?  Did you think Julie Andrews would be here today?  Or maybe the Von Trapps?  Well, I was almost as excited when I learned to  make hills.  After  many failed attempts I learned to push the ink up instead of across the paper.  What a difference it makes!    Anyway I used Memento inks on this and I am sorry but I don't remember the stamp I used. I can tell you that I stamped some of the flowers off and then restamped on my card.   I used my Nestabilities as a template for the clouds.

Our little Lucy will turn 4 years old on Monday.  Sure doesn't seem that we have had her for almost 4 years now.  She got a haircut today so she will be so pretty on her birthday! In this picture she was riding in my bag. Or trying to!  Neither of us had tried that one before :)

I haven't talked much about the books I have been reading.  I read Danielle Steels and Debbie Macomber's newest releases and they were both excellent.  Friends Forever and the Inn At Rose Harbor. Now I have just started Mitch Albom's The Time Keeper.  I think it will be very good as well.

After a few pretty chilly days, rain and winds, we are supposed to warm up.  All week is supposed to be pretty nice.  I hope to be outdoors as much as possible.  I hope you have a wonderful week as well.

Until next time, Happy trails to you.....

Spooky Spiders

Ok, maybe not so spooky.  But aren't they cute?  I started with PTI paper and added the heads with scraps.  Just punched circles is all it is.  I glued on the google eyes and drew on the legs.  Found a sentiment and a web and done.  Very quick card but I had fun making it.  You can't see it here but I have sparkley on the web and also around the sides of the card with Stickles.  Are you ready for Halloween?  Do you have many out trick or treating at your house?  I find the numbers are dwindling each year.  I especially love seeing the little ones all dressed up and excited.  We try to go a little healthy in our treat giving.  We bought bags of popcorn and bags of pretzels to pass out.

It has been a busy week here.  And our weather has been really nice.  Today is a bit warm at about 73 degrees but the rest of the week has been in the 50's and 60's.  I hope you are able to get out and enjoy the weather where you are.

Until next time, happy trails to you....

Fall Window

Another fall card to share with you today.  I have these Memory Box dies and wanted to use them so cut out this window and the flower box.  Then die cut the flowers - believe it or not they are all single flowers!  I cut them 4 times in green and then glued the colored flowers over the green flower.  I borrowed a fern punch from my friend, Georgia and made the top window decoration.  I have now gotten my own fern punch.  They are hard to find around here!  I used some background paper from my stash that is forever old and there you have it.

We have had our first freeze.  Makes me so sad.  It has been so chilly but tomorrow is supposed to get up to 70.  A great day to mow the lawn and finish up outside things.

Until next time, Happy trails to you....

Big Girl Panties

Sorry I have been missing for so long.  There were 4 friends who got together for a stampfest - 2 of us from Omaha and 2 came from Iowa.  We had so much fun and got a lot of stamping done too. Georgia from Omaha and I planned and cooked for the event so we didn't have to go out and even though she has a craft room, we brought things into the living and dining room for more space.  I took alot of my stuff and we put up a big table and two card tables.  We had everything we needed right at our fingertips.  I swear that we have enough to open our own store.  Unfortunately all good things have to end and now life is back to normal.

I made this card a long time ago.  I haven't taken pictures of my new cards yet.  It is a Mo Manning image and of course I colored her with my Copic markers.  I put pearls on her panties and used my Nestabilities to cut her out.  Used paper from my stash.

Until next time, happy trails to you.....

Telescope

A couple of weeks ago, Beate had a tutorial on a telescoping card.  I had to try it so I pulled out my daisy from Flourishes and tried it.  Her instructions were so easy to follow and this is my first attempt.  I used a new Spellbinder.  Of course my image was colored with my Copics.  I hope you like it and will try it.  So easy.

After a summer of heat heat and more heat, it is actually chilly tonight. Supposed to get into the 40's.  This is a one time thing for now but it feels pretty good.   It has put my into the cleaning and purging mood.  I have lots of Stampin Up! sets for sale if anyone is interested.  Just email me at wsdanielson@cox.net and I will send you a list.  I have made several trips to the Goodwill and have two bedrooms, a linen and coat closet done.  I hope it stays cool and I keep in this mood until the whole house is done.  It is feeling really good!  I love retirement :)

I am also reading Danielle Steel's newest book called Friends Forever and it is very good.  So far I would recommend it.  It is about 5 kids who meet on the first day  of kindergarten and become very close throughout their lives.  They are seniors in high school right now and I am about a third of the way through it.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Maggie with Coneflower

I am not sure what the name of this sweet little Maggie is but I love her.  If you know who she is, please leave me a comment so I will be able to identify her.  I had some paper in my stash that I really liked and wanted to use.  You can't see it but the paper is sparkly and so summery.  So I got my Copics out and colored her up.  I then used my MS grass punch and made some grass for her to stand in.

The garage sale is behind us.  The first day was very hot but the second day was cloudy on and off.  We didn't open on the last day due to rain.  Yup, finally we got rain!  Just short of a half an inch. First measurable rain since mid June.  Now we are back in the heat.  99 today and in the 90's for the rest of the week. Rumor has it that we are in for a long hard winter.  I guess time will tell.  We really do need moisture but it takes a ton of snow to get a little moisture so I vote for a rainy fall :)  Back to the garage sale, we did quite well.  Our expensive stuff is still here and the junk sold.  But there was a lot of junk and we have a nice chunk of change in our wallets.  Now to sell the more expensive things. Unfortunately I didn't have one stamper here - oh yes, I did.  My friends Georgia and Jan came and there was one man in his late 60's (a guess here) in coveralls and looking like he may have just come in from a junk yard.  He said he was a stamper and bought several stamping magazines for ideas.  Said he had tons of stamps at home.  Go figure!  I thought he was putting me on but when he started talking he sure knew the lingo so who knows.  That being said, I have a lot of Stamping Up! stamps still for sale, so if you are interested please email me.

A long weekend coming up.  Stay safe and enjoy it.  Anyone traveling?  If so please share where you are going.  Always looking for new ideas.

Until next time, Happy trails to you...

Front and Back

When my stamping group met in DesMoines this summer Annie, who lives in Canada could not be with us in body but she was sure there in spirit.  She sent a packet of goodies for everyone.  In my packet was this stamp off of front and backs.  I had seen these before but never had made one.  Oh it was fun!  It took me forever to really figure it out.  Each time I thought I had it figured out I realized what I had done wasn't going to work.  In time I got it right and really like how it turned out.  I colored her with my Copics of course and used some old paper from my stash for the wallpaper.

Ok, you have listened to me complain all summer about the heat.  It has finally broken and we haven't seen 100 for awhile now.  In fact we broke a record for a low this last week.  It was 48 degrees!  This morning when I walked at 7:30 a.m. it was 52 degrees.  It gets warm during the day and cools off at night.  Perfect!  The rain is another story.  We got a quarter of an inch the other day but that is all we have had other than ten drops here and 5 drops there since mid June!

We are in the midst of getting ready for a garage sale.  Our neighborhood has an annual sale each year and I have always been working.  This year we can participate.  If you want any SU stamps let me know and I can send you a list of what I have before the sale on Thursday.  I also have some Stamping Bella stamps.

Oh!  Tomorrow is the first day of school here.  I plan to be finished with my walk so I can watch the kids walk up to the school.  It seems weird that I won't be there.  I have to admit I will miss the excitement of the first day and the little faces eager to be back and see their friends.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Last week my friend Georgia went out of town to meet her brand new granddaughter and I went to her house to puppy sit.  She has an wonderful craft room and that is where I spent my time.  I made these two cards for my grandsons who go back to school tomorrow.  I used GinaK images, Spring Basket for the basket and Basket Additions 3 for the school supplies.  I colored with my Copic markers and used some paper I had taken with me.  I cut with a Spellbinder of Georgia's and don't remember the name of it.  When I got home I added the brads.

It has finally cooled off here but still no rain.  We have had a couple of teasers of a few drops here and there but nothing to speak of.

Until next time, happy trails to you!

Penny Black Flowers

Happy Saturday!  Are you all watching the Olympics?  I just love to watch as much as possible. I loved the opening ceremonies last night.  All 4 1/2 - 5 hours of it.

For my card today, I chose these Penny Black flowers.  I sponged on some ink from Close to My Heart and for the life of me I can't find the paper where I wrote down the colors.  I then punched some scallops with my SU punch and tied a bow and it was done.  Oh I almost forgot, I did go back and add some clear Stickles to the flowers and they really popped - no matter how I angled the card, I could not get that sparkle to show up.

We were hoping for rain this week but no such luck.  It has been over a month since we have had a good rain.  We went to my cousin's farm last Monday and you could really see the burned up corn in the fields.  My cousin irrigates so no problems there except for the cost.  It is so sad, last year they were fighting the floods and this year we can't squeeze a drop of rain from the skies.  And the heat has been unrelenting.  We have had many days this month when our thermometer has been between 105 and 111 degrees.  I hope it is better where you are!

Until next time, Happy trails to you :)

I Scream You Scream We All Scream for Ice Cream

As hot as it has been and still is I thought an ice cream bar card would be appropriate.  We are supposed to hit a high of 104 degrees today.  Yikes!  It has been like this for a month with no end in sight and no rain for a month either.  The farmers fields are dying and people are wilting.  Anyway back to my card. The ice cream treats was a stamp sent that was brought to Des Moines when I went on my stamping retreat in June.  I paper pieced the ice cream for a little more interest.  I colored the cone and sticks with my Copic markers and then used a sun from my stash.  I also sponged around the edges of the green layer.

Wherever you are, stay cool!

Until next time, Happy trails to you....

Thanks Julie!

I want to thank Julie Price for the wonderful blog candy she sent to me all the way from Australia.  Julie has a wonderful blog http://julieprice3.wordpress.com/.  If you don't already see her blog you should check it out!  I could not wait to color up one of the Elizabeth Bell images. Also look at the gift bag she altered.  Isn't it cool?  I loved everything she picked.  It was like she knew my taste.  I used my Copics to color with and a piece of paper and ribbon from my stash.  I like how it turned out.

Is it hot where you are?  Oh my heavens, I think we are going to cook here in Nebraska.  I am not looking forward to winter but a little break from this heat would sure be nice.

I hope you can stay cool wherever you are.  Until next time, Happy trails to you...

Happy Birthday Aaron

On the 19th our youngest grandson turns 8 years old.  My how the time flies.  He is such a sweet little stinker.  He always makes me laugh and we have had lots of good times together.  He is having a pool party tonight for his birthday.  It has been so hot here that this is a very good choice!  The card I made was made with stickers and of course I can't remember the brand.  The paper is fireworks paper but I thought it really worked with the stickers.  Aaron is very into video games so I think he will like his card. The second picture is of Aaron taking our puppy, Lucy for a walk.  She adores the kids and will follow them looking for any trouble they can get into together!

Happy Anniversary Michelle and Brian

My daughter, Michelle and her husband, Brian are celebrating their 13th anniversary today.  I made this card in celebration.  It is a 6 x 6 card and I put silver behind the white panel.  The white panel is embossed with a Stampin Up! embossing folder.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and the glittered butterflies are rub ons from Royal ad Langnickel Brush.

Enjoy your day!

Until next time, Happy trails to you....

Come In, The Water's Fine

Golly, two posts in one day!  Can you tell how hot it is here?  Nothing else to do - well I could clean or something but this is so much more fun!  Anyway I saw a tutorial on GinaK's blog, Stamp TV a couple of days ago and I could not wait to try it.  I am very happy with the results.  After I had the background done, I colored up a Maggie and the inner tube using my stamp positioner.  Of course she is colored with my Copic markers on Papertrey Ink's white cardstock.  I mounted it on a piece of Bazzill green and added some bling and done!  I hope you like her.  I think she is pretty summery and I wish I was on that inner tube about now!
I have entered this into The House That Stamps Built  challenge which is purple and green.  http://www.thehousethatstampsbuilt.com/designers-choice-challenge/dcc74-color-challenge/

HAPPY 4th of July and HAPPY Anniversary

Happy Independence Day to all of my fellow Americans.  A day to truly remember what it means to be an American and the freedoms we have.  Today is also the anniversary of one of my group friends and her husband.  A few years ago they took a hot air balloon ride on their anniversary so I made a card to remind them of their ride.  I made the clouds using a scallop cut out from a punch - thanks Georgia.  I tore grass for the bottom and the balloons are gems from The Paper Studio.

Until next time... Happy trails to you!

Celebrate America

Happy 4th of July!  I thought I should get these on my blog before the 4th is history.  The first one is simply stickers.  The paper is from Papertrey Ink and the punch is a Martha Stewart punch.  The second one is a stamp from Rosie's Roadshow framed with PTI paper and colored with Copics.  I added stickles to the sparkler.  The background is made with a PTI set of stamps and then of course a sticker at the bottom.  In real life it matches much better.

Has it been hot where you live?  Sure has been hot here and I had outdoor work to do on the two hottest days.  It is done now so I can stay inside and watch the temperature climb from the comfort of air conditioning!

My husband is now officially retired.  Last night was his last night at work.  I think he is in a state of shock!  After a few days I think he will be going nuts so we will see how long this lasts.  I have an appointment with the hospital on Monday to see about volunteering.

Have a wonderful 4th of July - stay cool and enjoy all of the freedoms we have in the United States of America!

Until next time, happy trails to you

Camp

Our grandson, Justin is going to camp today and will be gone for a whole week for the first time.  He is apprehensive but excited as well.  It sounds like they have all kinds of really fun activities planned for them.  Tonight they will camp out under the stars.  The weather is to be very very hot this next week and I know they will be doing some or maybe a lot of swimming.  Mail time each day is a very big deal for them so I made him a couple of cards out of stickers.  My friend Georgia is the sticker queen and gave me a few pointers.  I love stickers and have a lot of them but am never sure how to use them.  I think he will like these.  I also made the matching envelopes you see next to the cards.

Aaron, Justin's little brother, is also going to camp this week but his is just in the afternoons.  It is at the Humane Society and called Camp Kindness.  They learn to take care of animals and about different animals and I think they will be responsible for an animal for their week there.  We live very close to the Humane Society but Aaron lives a bit of a ride so he will stay here every other day.  That way his mom will only have to drive it once a day.  Aaron and I have some fun things planned for the evenings.  It will be a busy week for all of us.

I finished the book The Invisible Thread the other day and I have to say it was one of the best books I have read in a very long time.  Check it out!  I got my copy at the library.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Dance Dance Dance

I can't believe it is almost the end of June already.  I made this card for a co-worker who also retired at the same time I did.  Hi Donna.  Donna is moving out of state to their lake house.  She was a teacher at the same school I worked at.  I colored with my Copics and then glittered up her dress.  The scroll is a Magnolia die cut and the paper is from my stash.  Of course it was cut with my Nestabilities.  I believe it is Labels 1.

Tomorrow is my husbands birthday.  I just finished a big pan of brownies for him.  He will love them!  And tomorrow after he goes to work, I am going to stamp with some friends.  Hi Janet and Nancy.  I will miss my friend Georgia who can't be there.

I am reading a good book right now.  It is called An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff and Alex Tresniowski.  It is a "true story of an 11 year old panhandler and a busy sales executive and an unlikely meeting with destiny."  It has turned into a rainy cool evening so I think that is what I may do, curl up in my big chair and a half and read my book.  Of course Miss Lucy will be on my lap.  She is not fond of the thunder.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

ON THE WAGON

WOW!  Where has this month gone?  It has just flown by.  I wait all year for June so I can get together with my girlfriends and stamp.  There are several of us - some from California, some from Minnesota, some from Iowa and some from Nebraska.  We spend 3 days together in Iowa, getting there in time for lunch and shopping on Sunday, stamping all day on Monday and half a day on Tuesday.  Then we go to our farewell luncheon and go our separate ways until the next year.  We just got home on Tuesday evening and I am already looking forward to next year.  We spend hours laughing and eating and talking and stamping.  Top priority is laughing.  If it is in fact, good medicine, we have our annual supply stored up.

My stamp today is an Amariah Rauscher stamp called Ramona and her Wagon.  I colored it with my Copic markers and then added a rub on butterfly.  The paper is from my stash and was double sided.

A funny story - you know, how you get inspiration from strange places?  Well, this second grader was walking down the hall at school with a very pretty headband on.  I asked her to stop by my desk and wrote down all of the colors in the headband and came home that night and made this card.

Enjoy your summer, it goes by so quickly!

Until next time, Happy trails to you...

Sympathy

I had to make a sympathy card for a friend who lost her mother very suddenly. She was only 78 years old and in very good health. She had a tear to her aorta and was taken to surgery immediately but unfortunately it did not turn out well. I used the Papertrey Ink Botanical anniversary set to make this one along with Memento inks. It practically put itself together. I then used Stickles all around the edge and also on the flower centers. The butterflies are all rub ons and were already glittered. I hope it is not too sparkly for a sympathy card. Her mom loved flowers, birds and butterflies so I made this with her in mind.

Well, it is official! I am retired. Last Tuesday was my last day at work. It is not real to me yet and won't be until fall when it is time to return. So far I have spent one day shopping with my daughter and getting a pedicure, reading a book, working in the yard and my biggie is beginning to organize my stamps. My friend Lynette gave me an idea to use and I am expanding on it to make it something that will work for me - I hope. Until next time Happy trails to you.... Sheri

Retirement

As I have mentioned before, I am retiring TOMORROW! Anyway we were hoping the gal who is part time along side me this last year would get my job. Unfortunately it is not to be. It is a union thing and they say she is not even being looked at even though she knows the school, the kids, the routine and exactly how to do my job for the most part. Before we found out that she was not going to get it, I made her a card. She was admittedly nervous about taking it all on but I knew that with some help she would get though it. The card is made with an old stamp I had to borrow from my friend, Joanne. Of course I found mine a couple of days later. The paper is from my stash and is 2 sided. I paper pieced her clothes. On the inside I had a stamp that said, " I'll have a Cafe-Mocha Vodka-Vallium Latte to go, please." She loved it and I thought it was perfect for the occasion. I hope you are all having a wonderful three day weekend. If you see a soldier today please tell him thank you for his service. This includes past and present. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our Military. Until next time, Happy trails to you Sheri

First Communion

Our grandson Aaron had his First Communion about a month ago. I have not had a chance to post the card I made for him yet so today seemed like the perfect time. I wish I could be more specific about this one but I am just not sure about lots of things. The stamp is one I have had for years and it is unmounted so I have no idea where it came from. The background paper is a scrap so again, no idea. I do know that I colored with my Copics and cut it out with my Nestabilities. Before taking it out of the Nestie, I sponged some Memories Soft Sand ink onto it. I was happy with the way it came out. I am reading the third in a series of Richard Paul Evans "Walk" series. This one is The Road to Grace. It is excellent. I think it will be a year before the next one comes out. I wish they would come out closer to each other but I can always anticipate a new great read from him. One more week before retirement! Actually 48 hours of work. I have to go in on the 29th but won't stay too long. There was a wonderful party at school last week. Until next time, Happy trails to you..... Sheri

Happy Mother's Day

We are celebrating Mother's Day at my daughter's home today. Or weather is perfect with temperatures around 70 degrees and sunshine. This morning I planted the last of the Impatiens in my garden. My daughter and I will go to the nursery by her house and see what I can find for a few pots that I need to fill. I love this time of the year! For my card today, I used the tulips from Inky Intics called Tulip Oval. I colored with my Copics and then used Stickles on the border. I cut it out with my scissors. I used Fillable Frames #4 from Papertrey Ink for the frame and sentiment. I am sure the butterfly is from Papertrey as well but I had cut them out a long time ago and put them in my parts box. The cardstock is from Papertrey and I used a Cuttlebug folder to create the "stripes" on it. I made two of them for my girls. I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day and you have plenty of sunshine and warm breezes. Until next time... Happy Trails to you! Sheri

New House

Finally! I am back. It has been such a busy time and each time I think I have a minute something comes up. Let's see, since I was last here, we helped move our daughter and her family to a beautiful new home. We went to Kansas City to meet with a cousin of my husbands whom we have never met. What a wonderful day that was! We celebrated our youngest grandson, Aaron's First Communion, we rushed to the hospital when our daughter was in a car accident, plus worked full time and did the routine every day things. No wonder I haven't been here! Things will settle down soon and after only 20 more days, I will be retired. Yeah!! Anyway, the reason you are here is not to hear all of this but to see my card. I made a card for the kids when they moved into their home. This is sort of how their house looks and sort of the colors of it. Well, you really have to use your imagination to see this, haha. The stamp is from a stamp set made by PaperTrey Ink titled Boards and Beams and the paper is also from PaperTrey. I colored with my Copic Markers and the fence is from Taylored Expression I think. It was cut from a friends die a year ago so am not positive. Until next time, Happy trails to you... Sheri

Happy Birthday

Happy Saturday! Well, I meant to add these birthday cards earlier in the week but life got in the way. My friend, Georgia had a birthday last Saturday and her family had a surprise party for her. Well, I sent her a card in the mail with the promise that I would get over to her house later with her gift. That is the card with the flowers. That image is from GinaK and colored with my Copics. I popped it up and left the flowers on the lower part. I thought it came out nice for someone who loves flowers. Then for her party I used a Mo Manning image and made the adorable little girl with the static in her hair. I just adore her. Isn't she funny? Again I colored her with my Copics and added some bling as well. This has been quite a week. On Thursday morning I got a call from my granddaughter and she said her twin brother had gone to the hospital in the middle of the night for a kidney transplant. Yippee! He has been waiting for 2 1/2 years for it. He is doing well and feeling better already! The kids are only 22 years old so he has a long life ahead of him. We are expecting strong storms today and tonight. They are saying there it is very possible for tornadoes to form. If you are in the midwest, stay safe, my friends! Until next time, happy trails to you :) Sheri

Little Bunny Fufu

I just got this stamp set from All That Scraps and had to make it up quickly for my granddaughter. She used to sing this song to Grandpa just to get his goat. It drove him nuts! I think she sang it until she was 14 years old! Now Makala is a preschool teacher and is singing it again! Of course it is colored with my Copics. I hope everyone who celebrates has a happy and blessed Easter. Enjoy your day with family and friends. We are celebrating quietly this year. Our weather is supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees. Can't get much better, right? I went to a surprise birthday party for a dear friend today. I could not decide if I should post her birthday card or this Easter card. Georgia, Happy Happy birthday and I promise to post your card soon. Until next time, Happy trails to you... Sheri

Bunny Tails

I was at my friend, Georgia's for a play day a couple of weeks ago and I stamped off these adorable bunnies. I didn't do much to them other than the cute little tails which I colored very lightly with Copics and of course the grass. Then used Stickles on their tails. The pink ribbon was in my stash and the cool die is from Papertrey Ink and called the Filigree Border die. I cut it out with my Nestabilities Label 4 dies Thanks Georgia for the great stamp! Our daughter and family moved on Thursday evening and Friday. They closed on their new home on Thursday afternoon. I took Friday off to help. Oh my gosh! I hurt in places I didn't know I had. Better today except for my right knee - ouch! We will go back tomorrow and go at it again. I feel sorry for them with all of the work they have in front of them but they have had great friends and family helping. Until next time, Happy trails to you Sheri

Rainy Day

Good Morning Peeps! It has been spring break this week and it rained or rather was gray and drizzly all week long - well Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then today is sunny and warm. We did get an inch of rain though and now everything is so green and the trees are leafing out so fast. On Wednesday I went to a friends house for a play date - Hi Georgia! We always have a great time when we stamp and occasionally we even get some stamping in. lol This card was one of the cards I made while at her house. It is a Tina Wenke stamp from Stampavie. It was part of a great blog candy I won from Michelle Oatman last week. I used my Copics to color and then I paper pieced the umbrella with a tiny scrap I had left over from another project. I used lots of Stickles on it to make it glitter and shine but I am afraid you can't see that. The background paper as well as the pendants are from Echo Park. I hope you like it. It was so much fun to make. Until next time, Happy Trails to you Sheri

Best Wishes

This is the second card I made for Kaleidoscope. It is made with the same set as the first card I showed you a couple of weeks ago. I love the cheery colors and they are all Memento inks. The green ribbon is from my stash. We are on spring break this week. Monday was very nice but it has rained ever since. Just a nice slow drizzly kind of rain. The grass is really green now. More showers this morning and then clear skies to follow. Until next time, happy trails to you Sheri
