The butterfly that didn't make it.

Everyone makes mistakes, right?  Live and learn, right?  Well I learned what not to do when I made this card!  I loved the card when I finished it.  But then I thought the antenna needed to stand out a little more.  I had embossed the butterfly originally and used white embossing powder.  So I got out my Zig Millennum pen and made them darker.  It really looked good!  Card done and happy stamper.  I moved it to the other room and brought it back out to show someone and the black had smeared and I mean really smeared.  Usually I can cover up a mistake but putting a butterfly on it but not this time!  LOL  Oh well, live and learn, right?

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Happy Birthday to You!

I just received an order from Papertrey Ink and could not wait to try out this die.  I cut it out and then spattered it with Heidi Swapp Color Shine.  I had the Memory Box butterfly so cut it out and popped it on top. A quick card but a fun one!

Until next time...  Happy trails to you!

Seize the Cupcake

One of the techniques in class was using embossing paste.  I had done that a few years ago but had forgotten about it so I dug out my paste and a stencil and added some hearts and stars using a Heidi Swapp stencil.  A fun card to make and will be a fun one to give as well.

Until next time, happy trails to you

Happy Birthday Kris

One of the ladies in my stamping group has a birthday today.  This is the card that I made for her.  I used embossing powders on the buildings to make them so many different colors.  It was fun to do!  The sentiment was computer generated and then just added some bling to make it pop a little.

Until next time, happy trails to you!

Vellum Meet Copics

In our card class today one of the ideas was to take vellum and color it with Copic markers and then put it behind the cut outs from a die.  Ahhh perfect.  I loved doing this one!  I used Papertrey Ink dies and then added some sequins at the end.

Until next time, happy trails to you!!

Class Card

Class today was another way to make an optical illusion card.  I thought these little bunnies from Lawn Fawn would be fun to play with.  The sun is from Papertrey Ink.  I sure did have fun coloring this one up!  You can't see it but I used my Wink of Stella pen on the flowers so they sparkle.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Optical Illusion

So very early this morning, after posting the inlay cards,  I watched all of the videos for todays lessons.  I then went about my day which was super busy and I was not home hardly at all.  I did have a chance to go for a walk and while walking I came up with (or so I thought) this card.  I made it when I got home.  Then as I was ready to post this I had to go back to the class to find the name of this technique and to my surprise I had made almost the same card!  No wonder it came to me this afternoon.  Jeese!  I had added some sequins to mine that they didn't.  I thought about not even posting it but decided to go ahead as it was the only one I had time to make today.  This is a cool technique and I have some other ideas that I can use as well.

Until next time... happy trails to you

And Finally the Last One for the Inlay Card Class!

Finally the last one and now I will move on to something from the next class.  I promise I won't do this many again!  It was fun and I sure got carried away!

Here is the second inlay card.  If you have not tried this technique, I strongly suggest it.  So fun!

More Inlays From my Online Class

I am still working on yesterdays class lesson.  I like doing the inlay technique.  It reminds me of a jig saw puzzle!  Anyway here is a new one and I will be putting 3 others up now so that I can link up to the class.  Thanks for your patience!  I will be back later with one from todays class.

Untii next time... happy trails to you

From the Heart

This is my second post today.  This was another lesson from the class.  It was a fun one to do although I had to make it harder than it should have been.  I like the inlay technique alot and will be using it quite a bit.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Clean and Simple

I am taking another On Line card class.  this one is called Clean and Simple.  It just started yesterday and they had three techniques that I think are very interesting.  The first one I tried was faux metal.  Well, she made it look easier than it was or I am embossing powder challenged.  Not sure which.  Anyway, as you can see, I have stray silver hanging around.  I am going to try it again but wanted to try something else next.

Until next time, happy trails to you...

Pieced Poppies

When my friend, Harriet was here from California she showed me how she pieced her Memory Box flowers.  I made this one and used a Nestibility to frame it.  Then had to add a bit of bling as well.  I will be doing this a lot  more often now.  It is like putting together a jig saw puzzle.  It also made me dig through the trash many many times looking for a little tiny piece of paper that I needed to piece in somewhere.

I am thinking spring may be finally coming to Omaha.  It has been so cold until tomorrow when they say it will be 65 degrees!  It is about time!  I see a long walk in my future.  It will be nice to walk without a heavy coat, scarf, hat and mittens on.

Until next time, happy trails to you.

Heaven Got a Very Special Angel

This week I had to say goodby to a very special friend.  Joanne and I met through stamping about 15 years ago.  We would meet in Carroll IA and spend a couple of nights and days stamping and laughing.  Later, Joanne formed a small close knit Yahoo Group and  we continued to meet every summer and stamp and laugh and eat and laugh and share stories, laugh, learn from each other, and share our toys. Oh and did I mention laugh?  Oh I could tell you so many stories!  Joanne was usually the ringleader in a lot of our escapades!  She was always up for a good time and had such a kind heart.  Joanne was diagnosed with cancer last year and had surgery.  We all (and she) thought that was the end of it.  We found out different in December when it returned.   We met in January and had a wonderful visit.  Our husbands had become friends years ago so we left them and did some stamping and talking and yes, there were a few tears as well.  Two weeks after that several of us went to her house for a visit and had a great time of laughs, and of course eating.  hey, it is what we did best!  I never saw her again but she texted me daily until almost the end.  Joanne you will always be with me as I go about my daily life.  I hope I can be half the person you were.  A very special lady indeed.  God Speed my dear friend.  Love you lots!

You Are My Sunshine

So it is now March and we should be seeing this - sunshine!  Well right now we are experiencing way below record breaking cold.  It is below zero here right now and we have a wind chill advisory so the wind chill is way below zero.  Well, I want things to warm up so if it is not going to be nice outside, my card can look warm and sunny!  I used all Memory Box dies to create this card.  I had the "you are my sunshine" ribbon in my stash and it has been in my stash for years!  Finally using up some stuff!  So I leave you with some sunshine today.  I hope it brings sun and warmth to your part of the world.

Until next time, happy trails to you...
