Friends

Another week has flown by. Where does the time go? We are a week post op and my husband is doing well. He has had some good days and some not so good days but every day he is a little stronger.

It is so very hot here and we have had so much rain that the mosquitoes look like hornets! Golly but they are big. So the best thing to do is to stay inside and stamp!

A good friend of mine, hi Georgia! took care of Lucy when we were at the hospital. I made a thank you card to go with her gift. Today I will share the thank you card. I used October Afternoon Alphabet Cards, October Afternoon Report Card Paper, a Martha Stewart Punch and also a Tonic punch with the stars. The base card is PaperTreyInk white card stock. The piece where the punched stars are was a scrap I had and then I sponged Tim Holtz's Distressed Antique Linen ink over it. I liked how it came out. What do you think?

Until next time, Happy trails to you...

Hydrangia

This card was made using a beautiful stamp that my friend, Georgia had. I don't think there was a name on it and she did say it was one of her oldest stamps. I colored the flower with my Copics. The paper is from a K&Co. pack I bought at a garage sale. The black paper it is outlined with is Bazzill and the butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. Finally I sponged around the design with chalk ink.

I mentioned my husband's surgery the last time. Well now it is over. We are still in the hospital as the surgery was yesterday (Friday) but the doctors have been in and released him to go home so we should be home by lunchtime. He has some restrictions - no hot coffee or soups as they could cause severe swelling in his throat. No driving and he has to wear a foam brace or collar for 2 - 3 weeks. Hey we can live with that. He is feeling pretty good. I stayed at the hospital all night and I bet neither of us slept for more than an hour and a half all night. Our own bed will feel so good tonight! Thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers. They worked!

Until next time, Happy trails to you

Butterflies and Bees

Are you seeing more butterflies than normal? I sure am. They are flitting everywhere I look lately. We have had an extremely wet summer (it is raining again as I write this) and also hot and humid. I know we have more mosquitos - they are like B52 bombers they are so big! I try to stay inside in the evenings as even the skitter juice is not working on them.

Todays card was so simple. When I went to DesMoines IA in June there is a store called Heirlooms By Design that we always visit. They had a board of cards up that they were having a class on and the card I made was one similar to what they had. It is stickers by Penny Black and then 3D stickers by K&Co. The paper was stash. I added some Stickles to the sticker by Penny Black. I also made one of some of the Bees that came on the same sheet of 3D stickers. The paper was some I picked up at Archivers but didn't write down the name of it. I think they both turned out really pretty. What do you think?

If you can, I would appreciate a few prayers on Friday as my husband, Bill has to have spinal surgery. We are a tad bit nervous about it although we trust and like his doctors very much. Thanks so much

Until next time, Happy trails to you....

Happy Birthday America

We are going to a block party for the 4th of July. They are predicting rain so we will see what happens. I can't even remember the last time we had rain on the 4th. I do remember many years ago when the girls were little, it was so cold we went to the fireworks display in winter coats and then came home and had hot chocolate. Another 4th that stands out is when we were in Jackson Hole WY. and the fireworks display was to be right behind our cabin. Again it was very cold that night so we stayed outside until we couldn't feel our toes and then went inside and three of us were huddled in the bathroom trying to look out a very tiny window. Michelle was with us that time and we still occasionally talk about that time. Do any 4th of July celebrations stand out in your mind? God Bless America!

My card is an adorable stamp set made for Archivers by Stampendous called Summer Cuties, the fireworks is a sticker from my stash as is the USA and stars sticker. The paper is from Archivers and called Huckleberry. I added some stripes from PTI's Distressed Stripes in the background. Oh and of course I used my Copics to color it and then went over the sunglasses with a clear Spicka pen for glitter. Easy peasy!

Until next time, Happy Trails to you...
